We are not the usual rent a shelf shop, earning money for it's owners, our makers actively work in shops to learn how to run their business. Taking ownership, building relationships with other makers and combating the social isolation that comes as a lone micro business. Alongside what it takes to grow it and compete on the high street.

I love when places like this give makers and crafters a foothold on the high street that they might not otherwise achieve. This also does us customers a favour by allowing us to connect with products outside of the everyday city centre offerings. Some outstanding gifting ideas here, and with Christmas just around the corner surely you owe it to yourself (and whoever you are shopping for) to check this one out.

Excellent service from this beautiful and interesting shop. The dreamcatcher that I'd seen on a previous visit had sold. The staff at the shop kindly took my name and contacted the maker for me. Lisa got in touch and said she would happily make another for me. I picked it up a couple of weeks later. As the pieces are one offs the dreamcatcher was even better than the original one I'd seen previously. Kind, helpful and talented staff. Highly recommend.

One of those great places to visit in York if you are looking for a unique gift. The products in this shop have all been handmade by local craftspeople and include stunning glass designs, handmade cards, jewellery, key rings and even a variety of flavoured chocolate shards.
The shop is very spacious and light and upstairs the same space is available for a variety of workshops. See the board in the shop or check out their website for specific details.
I could spend a lot of money in this shop!

Fabrication is an independent social enterprise with a retail shop on Stonegate selling a wide range of art and craft items from local makers. There's jewellery, ceramics, homeware, textiles, paintings and photographs, and greetings cards. The staff are friendly and helpful. It also hosts a range of craft workshops. Go along and support your local makers and creatives!
